Simi Valley Bees

Welcome to Simi Valley Bees.  We are located in Simi Valley, CA.  We sell our natural filtered and unfiltered honey through a face book page called Simi Valley Bees.  https://www.facebook.com/mattndasimivalleybees/

Our hives are constantly on the move as we have moved them from the orchards of Somis to the mountains of Ojai, and now they are on the coast at Carpinteria, CA.  We started our bee business in March.  We currently have about 19 hives, and we just became certified through the Ventura County Agriculture Commission to sell at the Farmers Market.  We will be selling at the Simi Valley Town Center Farmers Market and other Farmers Market through out Ventura County.

You may be wondering what is going on in our featured photo.  Matt, the head beekeeper is working the bees in Somis, California.  All of the bees boxes are required to have his name written on them by Ventura Agriculture Commission in case one of them is stolen.  Matt is putting a queen excluder into a medium box.  A queen excluder makes it so the queen is not able to go up into the box above her and lay eggs.  The bees are able to go above the box above and place honey and pollen in the box above, but not the queen.  It makes it a lot easier and not soo messy to harvest honey with the queen excluders in place.
